The football team plays Warren Central on Sept. 29 at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Circle City Classic annual game. Carmel boasts an undefeated record, and Warren Central has a record of 3-3 with losses against Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC) opponents Terre Haute North and Ben Davis. Carmel plays both teams before the end of the regular season.
With the post-season just around the corner, the team is practicing for the upcoming playoffs according to Head Coach Kevin Wright.
Wright said, “We’ve had continued improvement and we’re playing our best. It’s week seven so we’re really preparing for playoffs.”
The week of practice before Warren Central has always been a highly intense week according to senior John Kenny. Being his third year at the varsity level, it’s an exciting experience every year, according to Kenny.
“It means more than anything. We take it one game at a time, but I mark this one on my calendar,” Kenny said.
Carmel is coming off of a 24-point win, and Warren Central is coming off of a tough loss. It all makes the game more interesting, according to Kenny.
“It (Circle City Classic) reminds me a lot of the Ravens and Steelers match-up, two smash mouth teams going at it,” Kenny said.
