Member and senior Alex Bissell will teach Swing Club members on Nov. 10 outside of the main cafeteria from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m.
The Swing Club has established a schedule of who will teach the members each month. According to Bissell, he plans on teaching the “Charleston”, as well as how to flow from one movement to another at the Nov. 10 meeting.
“(For) the Charleston line you don’t have to have a partner, you just have to have a line of people to do it. I think that will get more people involved,” Bissell said. “I’m also going to be teach how to flow from one movement to another. So that even as we’re learning more difficult (steps), and if (the members) mess up, they can flow into something else and still make it look good.”
Sponsor Caren Rickett is still working on planning a trip to the Indiana School for the Blind & Visually Impaired. President and senior Shea Rhoutsong is working with Rickett, and she still has to contact Dave Romano, the instructional aid at CHS, to see if he can go with them to the school.
“We are still planning on trying to go to the school to teach swing dance there, but I haven’t heard any progress on that,” Rickett said.
Swing Club, according to Bissell, improves social skills. Bissell said, “I feel like it’s really helped me learn how to talk to people and be social. (The Swing Club) is an excellent opportunity to get to know people, and to get comfortable being next to people, cause that’s going to happen in the real world. The club is a lot of fun, and we are all really good friends in the (Swing Club).”
