The Swing Dance Club will have blindfolds at their next meeting on Dec.12 in order to further build trust among their members.
Co-president and senior Marie Hamilton said the Swing Dance Club has this every year to make sure the members can trust their partners.
Hamilton said, “The follows will first have the blindfolds on, and they have to trust the leads when doing the steps. Then we switch, and the leads are blindfolded. This helps members make sure they know the steps, and they also learn to trust the other members.”
Sponsor Caren Katuin said she likes that the club has the blindfold days because it helps the members become stronger swing dancers.
“I think it works really well because it allows them to trust each other and refine their technique a little bit more,” she said.
Hamilton said the blindfold days will help make sure that the members remember the moves they’ve already learned, so they can start to learn harder steps.
She said, “It makes everyone better and more in tune with their own bodies as well as with working with other people. We’re still reviewing old moves, and we’re saving the harder moves for next semester.”
