Drudge sets up to get to work in the morning as she checks her emails. She said this year will be her first teaching integrated physics and chemistry and is excited for the new challenges it will bring.

According to department chairperson Jennifer Drudge, this will be the first year the science department is offering a medical intervention course. The textbook adoption process will also continue throughout the semester.

“So medical interventions is the third year of the project Lead the Way course,” Drudge said, “this is our first year offering medical intervention, so that’s our only new course for the year.”

Drudge also said the department went around the district and took a look at the science programs from kindergarten to seniors in high school as part of the textbook adoption process for next year. This evaluation is done approximately every six years, and drives the process of looking at different textbooks for the next school year.

Sylee Kanetkar, AP chemistry and junior, said she is looking forward to the challenges her science course will offer her this year.

“Of course, there’s a lot of work but I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Kanetkar said.
