On Oct. 5, CHS will be holding the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference (MIC) Choral Festival. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. and should last only about 45 minutes. The cost is $2 and tickets can be purchased at the door.
The concert will feature all of the MIC schools, excluding Terre Haute South, and is an annual event that rotates its location throughout the different schools. The students from each school choir will learn two pieces of music and perform them as a large group of about 300 students. After the concert, the students eat dinner together that night and according to choir director Ann Conrad, “It is always a nice night. The kids can socialize and it’s just such a great atmosphere.”
Conrad said, “The purpose of the event in not the performance, it’s more learning the pieces and working with the guest conductor. It’s also about learning the rehearsal process and working with others as well.”
The Ambassadors have been learning the pieces during class time, and a select group of students from other choir groups have been working on the piece outside of school to prepare for the concert. Conrad said, “These kids have given a lot of time to participate in (the concert). It’ll be a fun experience for them.”
