French Club still in planning stages for Art Institute of Chicago trip

The French Club is still in the planning stages for their scheduled April 17 trip to the Art Institute of Chicago.

French classes this semester have been studying the artist Henri Matisse in class, who is the center of the museum’s current exhibition. Mona Shen, President and Junior of the French Club explains reason for visiting the newest museum exhibition.

“One of the reasons for visiting the Art Institute is for its array of impressionist paintings that the French V classes have been studying,” Shen said.

The French Club, along with sponsor Andrea Yocum, has decided to go to a new French restaurant in Clay Terrace called Petite Chou. The restaurant serves French cuisines and authentic food such as crepes. The club may go during SRT or try to attend before Spring Break. Yocum explains their newly planned event.

“Food plays such a central role in the culture of France, so it is always enjoyable to visit the local, authentic French bakeries and restaurants so that the students can see how real French cuisine is made. Also for some students it is the first time they have tasted these French delicacies.”

The next French Club meeting will be April 14 in Yocum’s room at 3:15 in A223. By Matt Davidson <[email protected]>
