Kids Against Hunger continues to meet once a month

Kids Against Hunger is a club that supports people in developing countries who need food. The club meets once a month, every first Monday of the week and finds new opportunities to stop global hunger.

“This club is a big deal to the students who are involved, there are so many people who are less fortunate and the students really care about helping them,” Maggie Cassidy, sponsor for Kids Against hunger and drama teacher said via email.

Cassidy and a group of around 15 other students meet once a month during school days as well as once every second Saturday of the month. During the Saturdays they meet, the go to the Red Cross packaging event in which they package food that is to be shipped out to people in other countries, and even locally. They all distribute food and raise money for many people, according to www.cia.gov approximately 13 percent of the world suffers from hunger. The club focuses on helping that 13 percent.

“There are a lot of people there and its really crowded, I love seeing how many people are there and how many people care about the same thing that we do, it’s a lot of fun but it’s also a lot of hard work,” Emily Lentz, senior and President of Kids Against Hunger said.

Lentz plans on helping and delivering more food to the less fortunate, especially in those countries being struck by disasters. During the next meeting of Kids Against Hunger, she plans on discussing how she can help those affected.

“The point of the club is just to help people who aren’t well fed, it’s a great thing to do and it is also good for community service hours in other clubs or classes,” Lentz said. Hannah Khan <[email protected]>
