In anticipation of the upcoming Thanksgiving break, Student Venture will have turkey bowling during its regularly scheduled meeting on Nov. 23. In addition, the group is preparing for its winter conference, Fastbreak. Student Venture meets Tuesdays at 7 a.m. in the Freshman Center cafeteria.
Brian Clark, Carmel Student Venture director, said via e-mail, “Turkey bowling is a tradition in which we roll frozen turkeys into real bowling pins and hand out prizes and then give a short message on the first Thanksgiving and how America was founded on godly principles.”
Following the holiday break, the group’s next big event will be Fastbreak from Jan. 14 to Jan. 17 at the Athletes in Action Sports Complex and Retreat Center in Xenia, Ohio.
According to Kathryn “Kate” Shanklin, Student Venture member and junior, anyone can attend Fastbreak, which encompasses all Student Venture groups in the Midwest. The cost is expected to be $100 to $200.
Clark said, “Fastbreak is the best thing we do other than the Myrtle Beach Getaway. It is three full days of fun, growing in faith, serving the community and winter sports.” By Katie Utken <[email protected]>
