Marching band begins to plan for Macy’s Parade

The marching band, which finished its season in November, begins to plan for the Macy’s Parade next Thanksgiving.

According the Andy Cook, associate director of bands, the marching band will leave for New York the Monday of the week of Thanksgiving break to play in the Macy’s Parade.

He said, “We’ll be up at 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving, since all the bands in the parade will rehearse from 2 to 4 a.m. Then we’ll perform, and later that day we’ll have a Thanksgiving dinner.” He said the band will also tour the New York while it is there.

Cook said the marching band hasn’t yet planned its program for next season besides the Macy’s Parade.

According to Nikki Verbarg, snare drum player and junior, marching band will not start again until the spring. She said, “We really don’t have anything planned yet for next year.” By Caroline Zhang <[email protected]>
