After the two-week-long winter break, the CHS cafeteria has had to restock many of its food items.
“A lot of the food has to go,” Anne Marie Woerner, manager of the main cafeteria, said. “We obviously can’t keep the fruits and salads, and we can’t re-serve the milk after two weeks.”
Many students such as sophomore Bryan Duffy feel reassured that the cafeteria does not keep many of the fresh foods during winter break.
“I think it would be disgusting to serve milk after two weeks, even if it’s refrigerated so that it doesn’t go bad,” Duffy said. “I guess it’s nice to know that the food served here is fresh and not served again after two weeks.”
Although many of the fresh foods are not kept during winter break, Woerner states that the cafeteria keeps nonperishable foods that don’t spoil quickly.
“A lot of the food items that we serve are nonperishable, so we hold on to those during the break since they are sealed and packaged well and don’t go bad easily,” Woerner said. “Things like Powerade and Cheetos don’t go bad in two weeks, so we keep them in a refrigerated environment and serve them after break is over.” By Jerry Xu <[email protected]>
