The Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) club has a new sponsor this year, Nancy Spencer. The club also needs a new president since former president and senior, Jordan Bear, stepped down.
According to Spencer, club member meet in Room B175 on Wednesdays after school about once a month. The club offers members opportunity for community service.
According to Bear, “There are lots of volunteering opportunities. The club tries to get input from its members on what they would like to do and then go from there. We do participate in the Health Fair at IU North Hospital every year and we run the Bike Safety station.”
Club members have also sold hot chocolate and cupcakes to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network, Bear said.
According to Spencer, students can still join the club if they want, but only club members can participate in club activities. Club members should be people who are passionate about giving back to their community and who would like to benefit from those experiences, she said.
Spencer said she wants the students involved to get a lot of out the club.
“I want them to be stronger partners in family and community service,” Spencer said.
