Brain Game is scheduled to compete for the first time against either St. Theodore Guerin High School or Brown County on Nov. 28. The decision on which school will compete against CHS depends on the game between Guerin and Brown County.
In order to get ready for their upcoming competition against other competing schools in Indiana, Brain Game meets in the library after school on Mondays. Members of the team practice answering both general knowledge and academic based questions. After each round of questions, the top five people who performed the best are recorded. Later, the overall best will be the competitors for the next game. One of these contenders is senior Joe Gralak, who has been a part of the Brain Game since last year.
CHS hasn’t won Brain Game since 1988 and was defeated last year by Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School. Sponsor and coach John Shearin said, “Usually who we see perform really well in the Brain Game are the private schools.”
Brain Game will continue to follow their system of practicing. Gralak said, “If we do something in Janauary, we’ll do stuff every Monday leading up to that.”
