According to president and junior Rebecca White, the club will do the same events as last year, but there will not be a bake sale this year. Members will also meet for a work session on Dec. 3 after school in Room A201, where they will finalize plans and make banners.

“We’re just going to make banners and hang them up in the cafeterias, and then we’re going to put a jar of candy with a statistic or a question that the students can guess and then win the jar,” White said. “We’re going to do video announcements about making good choices, and then we’re going to show a movie that has something to do with making good choices.”

Sponsor Rebekah Overbey said that Pre-Winter Break Awareness Week stresses good decision making.

“It’s about encouraging students to stop and think about their actions, about their choices relating to parties and drinking and drugs, but also about reaching out and helping others,” she said. “It’s about how our choices affect everybody around us. We hope that they also stop and think about how they can give back and give out to others.”
