Upcoming delays due to weather have the potential to disrupt CHS aquatic center activities, according to aquatics center director Kinsey Wallace. If the school closes due to weather, policy dictates that the aquatics center closes as well.

“It will be crazy busy here,” Wallace said. “I have no idea how I’ll make up the lost time if we have any more closings.”

Lifeguard Maggie Ramsey said she hopes that no more closings or two-hour delays take place, both for her sake and for the sake of the aquatics center.

“When the school closes, I can’t come into work, and it really bums me out. When it’s a two hour delay, my brother annoys me half the time in the morning,” Ramsey said.

Among the programs that are liable to be affected by snow delays are adult master classes, nighttime swim programs and Carmel Swim Club (CSC) practices.  According to Wallace, out of all of these programs, the CSC practices will be most affected by delays.

“It’s crazy championship season, and I have no idea how I’ll make up the lost time if we have any more chances,” Wallace said.

The championship season, according to Wallace, will extend to March 2. As there are swim meets every weekend until the second meeting of March, the aquatics center will have no time to schedule make-up practices in the event of a closing, as make-up practices normally take place on the weekends.
