The Teen Library Council (TLC) of the Carmel Clay Public Library (CCPL) will host book buying trips on March 4 and 5 to help young adult services librarians pick out new books for the high school collection.
TLC members can choose whether to go on March 4 or 5 based on their convenience. The book buying trips are one of the signature events that the TLC hosts, so members are strongly recommended to go.
According to Jamie Beckman, young adult librarian at the CCPL, there are multiple goals of the book buying trips.
“There are two goals for the book buying trips,” Beckman said. “One is when we buy new books for the young adult collection, and one is when we buy both new books and slightly used books for the summer reading program to use as prizes.”
According to Paymon Baygani, TLC president and junior, the book buying trips are very important.
“I guess (book buying trips are necessary) just to have new books available for people to choose from because if they see the same old thing over and over again, they’re not going to enjoy it,” Baygani said.
