Bobby Greaser, Junior Class president and member of Carmel Mayor’s Youth Council (CMYC), said he is working with CMYC to plan a basketball tournament, which will occur on March 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. in the field house. The tournament will be in a three vs. three format. According to Greaser, up to four people can be on a team, and sign-up forms will be available in the activities office for two weeks leading up to the event.
“(The tournament) is kind of unique because it’s something we haven’t seen at the school in a while,” Greaser said. “It’s something I was interested in bringing back.”
Greaser also said that planning for prom has begun. Prom will occur on May 3 from 8 to 11:30 p.m. at The Fountains. According to him, prom attendees can also go to nonstop bowling after prom at Woodland Bowl starting at midnight; this is included in the prom ticket fee, which is $35.
“We’re going to have to publicize after prom, (it’s) just something that especially not a lot of juniors know about,” Greaser said. “It’s a tradition. It’s just that a lot of people like to go to parties after prom, (and) this is just a CHS-sponsored party for kids to go to after the dance.
According to Junior Class sponsor Ann Mayhew, the Junior Class officers handle the planning of all Junior Class activities.
Greaser said he considers it a privilege to be able to contribute to the planning of prom this year.
“I’m just happy that I can give my input on the event; I just hope that everybody enjoys it and has a great time this year.”
