While the entire team did not qualify at Sectional, speech team co-sponsor Anna Kaiser said three speech team members will be competing in the State meet March 15 at Fishers High School.

“(Junior) Bobby Greaser, (senior) Claudia Benz and (senior) Chelsea Yedinak will be representing Carmel High School in the Broadcasting category,” she said.

According to Kaiser, Benz placed first in the Sectional competition; Yedinak placed third and Greaser sixth.

“Those three are our representatives, and if they do well, they will be able to go on to the national level. So that’s exciting,” Kaiser said. “It’s awesome, especially since we have a smaller team than most.”

“We got fifth place overall in Sectional, so unfortunately our other categories didn’t qualify further,” Kaiser said.

Elaina Xiong, speech team member and senior, said for those who didn’t qualify, “the season’s basically over right now.”

However, Xiong said, “There won’t be much going on for the next couple of months, but I might be planning an end of the year banquet. We’ll see.”
