The 2012-2013 staff of the HiLite newsmagazine won the Gold Crown award from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association (CSPA), the highest award from that organization. Awards were announced on March 21, 2014 at the CSPA convention in New York City.
The HiLite was judged in the “hybrid” category, for both print and online publications. The CSPA, an international student press association, judged 1,236 student publications from the 2012-2013 school year. Only 14 publications won the Gold Crown in the hybrid category.
The adviser of the HiLite is Jim Streisel. Victor Xu ’13 was editor-in-chief for the 2012-2013 HiLite staff. Tony Tan, Natalie Maier, Melinda Song and Ryan Zukerman, ’13, were managing editors.
