All Carmel Education Foundation scholarship applications were due on March 14. Those who applied will learn if they have been awarded with a scholarship during CHS Scholarship Night on May 22.
On March 25, 26 and 27, the CEF held the 28th Annual Telethon, during which a showcase was broadcasted on CHTV while members of the National Honors Society called residents in the area for donations. All donations will go towards supporting academic achievement of students, as well as funding teacher grants.
“It is a good way to get involved in our education,” said Sophie Kelner, coordinator of the showcase and senior.
“The CEF does two things. One, it houses 66 scholarships that it gives out through an application online to seniors, but the other half we spend all of the money that we raise from all of the events, including Ghosts and Goblins, for grants to teachers in Carmel schools,” said Barbara Danquist, Co-Executive Director of the Carmel Education Foundation. “This is one way that we raise money so that we can give it back to teachers so that they can enhance the academics of the students in their classrooms.”
