LifeLines is currently preparing for Pre-Winter Break Awareness Week, which will be from Dec. 8 to Dec. 12.
Sponsor Rebekah Overbey said the members are still finalizing plans.
“Again, we focus on making good decisions for the student body, not doing drugs or alcohol, wearing their seat belts, driving safely (and) treating one another kindly,” she said. “The big push with Pre-Winter Break is how you treat one another and reaching out beyond yourself and trying to care for others, because it’s kind of the holiday season.”
Overbey said they will most likely do similar events to last year. “In previous years, we’ve tried to select a movie that we can show throughout the week during SRTs that encourage students to either respect themselves, respect others, care for others (or) care for the needs of others,” she said. “We’re trying to look to see maybe if there’s a Disney movie that can reflect that message too. We want to do it in a light-hearted way because you’re also getting ready for finals.”
Co-president and senior Sydney Burget said she thinks the week is important.
“It’s really just a good week to remind people that it’s getting snowy out, the weather’s getting more dangerous, the decisions we need to make obviously need to be smarter, especially with the icy roads and all. And drinking in general is not okay at our age,” Burget said.
