According to performing arts teacher John Burlace, the Ambassadors have their last competition of the season on Mar. 14. This follows on the heels of a Chicagoland competition award.
“They performed really well,” Burlace said. “They had two great shows; their preliminary performance was strong enough to earn them a spot in the evening finals, and their performance in the finals was really fantastic, and they were able to upset quite a few pretty big groups.”
“One thing that (Burlace) always says is that placing doesn’t really matter to him,” Kathleen Muloma, alto section leader for the Ambassadors and senior, said. “It’s more about if he thinks that we’ve done the work to reach our potential. I think that’s a really good mindset to have.”
“It’s a busy season for us,” Burlace said. Two more concerts follow, one of which features the competition set of songs, the later of which includes “a bunch of new stuff in addition to their competition show,” Burlace said. “We’re in the middle of preparing new things and keeping their concert songs.”
