According to Rebekah Overbey, sponsor of Lifelines, the club plans to have its call-out meeting on Sept. 3 in room A201.
Lifelines is a club dedicated to raising awareness of and preventing dangerous teenage behavior such as drugs and bullying. It also hires guest speakers to speak to the sophomores and juniors of CHS about topics like safe driving. In addition, the club tries to break stereotypical barriers and create a sense of unity at the school.
“We also try to promote unity within the student body,” Overbey said. “Last year we did something with black history month.”
This year, the club’s main events include Red Ribbon Week and Black History Month. The current president, Erica Toomey, is also working to find new, dedicated members for the club.
“I’m really excited for the upcoming year,” Toomey said. “Basically, our club helps teens live better lives, and that’s why I’m here for.”
