On Wednesday, Aug. 12, the first late-start of the year will take place. Late-starts are simply a delay on Gold Wednesdays, when the school day begins at 8:30 a.m. as opposed to the usual 7:50 a.m.
“Late-starts give teachers time to meet in their professional teaching groups or their departments to collaborate and discuss curriculum,” Assistant Principal Ronda Eshleman said.
The bus system remains the same as it would on a regular school day. Students should expect their bus to be at the designated time and place as it normally would be.
Eshleman said all students are welcome to arrive at the normal time and instead of going to class they can visit the library, eat breakfast in the main cafeteria or sit with their friends. Students who drive have the chance to sleep in should they choose to.
“We have teachers and administrators monitoring and walking through the hallways to make sure things are in order,” Eshleman said.
