While NHS has no group hour events scheduled for the next month, smaller individual events continue to occur. “This is our slow time; in November it gets more hectic,” club sponsor Debbie Haire said. An opportunity for individual hours, the late-start tutoring, begins Sept. 16.
“I know Mrs. Haire had been talking about starting it up and lots of members were eager to help,” club president and senior Ansel Nalin said. The free tutoring begins at 7:30 in room B211 for all students. Tutors are available on late starts throughout the year.
“NHS members will be happy to help,” Nalin said.
He said he also encourages members to participate in the “Tools for teachers” program. The program helps local IPS schools. According to Nalin, if members bring six school supplies to room B211, they receive six credits of individual hours.
“I would encourage members to keep working on individual hours and get ready for big events coming up next semester,” Nalin said.
