The CHS performing arts department is preparing for the upcoming Holiday Spectacular, on Dec. 6, Dec. 7, Dec. 9, and Dec. 10 in the Dale E. Graham Auditorium. The show will run at 7 p.m. on Dec. 6, Dec. 7, and Dec. 9, and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 9 and Dec. 10.
According to director of choirs Kathrine Kouns, this year’s theme is titled “Holiday Wishes,” a look at what people wish for during the holiday season, both tangibly and intangibly. She also said something unique about this year’s show is that its songs have been made specifically for the show through a collaboration with music producers outside this school.
On the preparation, Kouns said, “We began working on music for (Holiday Spectacular) in early October and everyone has spent countless hours putting their songs together. There’s still a lot to be done, but it will be great. With four major rehearsals outside of school and five performances, this is a big time commitment for everyone involved.”
Lauren Grumbacher, Accents member and sophomore, said she looks forward to this year’s Holiday Spectacular.
Grumbacher said, “Many people (should come) to (Holiday Spectacular) even if they don’t have a family member in the show. It may just be a tradition to get them into the holiday spirit. I think the show is (important) because it helps the community regain its kindness and appreciation for the country we live in and help(s) create peace and unity.”
