French Club to attend Cirque du Soleil, raise money for Haiti

On Feb. 12, the French Club will attend Cirque du Soleil at Conseco Fieldhouse. Tickets for the performance were discounted at $30 for the French Club.

Cirque du Soleil is a French-Canadian performance that started in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It contains a unique circus atmosphere and street entertainment with a one of a kind acrobatic performance.

French Club sponsor Andrea Yocum agreed with members of the French Club to attend this performance due to her teachings of the Cirque du Soleil unit in French Class.

“It’s a very exciting and interesting French-Canadian circus with unbelievable acrobatics,” Yocum said about traveling to Conseco Fieldhouse to watch the performance.

In class, students also have been exposed to Cirque du Soleil by means of watching videos of previous performances.

“Every year when they stop by Indianapolis, the French Club seizes the opportunity to attend this spectacular show of French origins and air-defying circus acts,” Mona Shen, president of the French Club said.

The French Club and the French teachers are raising money for the Haiti Earthquake relief by selling crêpes and accepting donations to the Red Cross.

The next French Club meeting will be on Jan. 27 at 3:15 in Room A223. By Matthew Davidson <[email protected]>
