The Tie Dye Club has not met since its initial meeting on Oct. 14, but members said they plan to restart the club in the second semester.
Alexis Ruggiero and Allixandra “Allie” Daniels, Tie Dye Club presidents and sophomores, have scheduled a second call-out meeting on Feb. 3.
The meeting is scheduled to take place right after school in Kathy Hallett, club sponsor and freshman biology teacher’s, room, Room H313. Ruggiero and Daniels plan to have a meeting every Blue Wednesday.
“We just wanted to restart everything fresh,” Ruggiero said.
The Tie Dye Club formed this year, and its purpose is for students to tie dye shirts for children at Riley Children’s Hospital and make shirts to sell with proceeds going to Riley.
Club members can also learn new tie dyeing techniques and tie dye items for themselves. Due to requests from athletes, the club plans on tie dyeing socks for sports teams at Carmel, such as lacrosse.
“We had difficulty starting simply because of lack of publicity,” Hallett said via email. “It takes time to build a new organization.”
Although there were a few struggles with getting the club starting, members are optimistic about the club’s future this semester.
“Everyone loves tie dye. It’s really fun to do and it’s for a good cause,” Ruggerio said. By Rachel Boyd <[email protected]>
