On Feb. 20, over 1,000 CHS students participated in Dance Marathon, packing the freshman cafeteria in an effort to raise money for Riley Children’s Hospital. This year’s marathon raised $174,545.72, topping last year’s total of around $159,000.
The marathon itself took place in the freshman cafeteria and varsity gymnasium from 4 to 10 p.m. Students must remain standing during the six-hour span.
During the marathon, students learn a line dance, play games, make crafts and hear families and individual speakers share stories of their relationship with the hospital. This year marked the largest number of participants and money raised since the marathon’s arrival at CHS. Since its first year, in 2006, the annual Dance Marathon has raised over $500,000 for Riley Children’s Hospital. By Sara Rogers <[email protected]>
