Principal Tim Phares stands in his new office. He said recently, a lot of his time has been spent discussing Homecoming plans with students and staff. Phares said he also plans to dress up for the Homecoming spirit days. “I’ve been working (on the outfits) in my mind since the (spirit) days have come out,” he said. “I’ve definitely spent more time on my Friday outfit. I came up with this idea and my mom is a wonderful seamstress, and she’s working on a little special outfit for Friday.”
This year, Senate is adding new vendors and activities for the Homecoming pep rally.
“We are going to have a Kona Ice (truck) and we think that’ll be a fun thing for (the) kids,” Principal Tim Phares said.
Senator and senior Macie DeLillo said Senate is adding more activities open to the student body during the pep rally.
Senators and seniors Jake Griffin (left) and Macie DeLillo (right) work with Shri Atluri (middle), Student Body President and senior, to finalize Homecoming plans during SRT on Sept. 23. DeLillo said Senate wants to get more students engaged at the pep rally.
“We’re putting on a flag football game for some of the student body to participate in during our pep rally,” DeLillo said. “It should be fun with both our trike race and our flag football game going on.”
Though changes have been made, Phares said most Homecoming traditions will remain the same.
“We’ve got a few things that are going to be different this year. That’s exciting for the kids, but there’ll be a lot that’s the same,” Phares said. “Part of a Homecoming is the tradition of it.”
