Mock Trial members to meet for Mock Trial county competition at the Hamilton County courthouse on Feb. 21 for semi-finals. The club has continued the county competition which will run until the finals on Feb. 22.
Mock Trial sponsor Robert Browning said the teams have persevered into the quarter-finals.
“Everyone has worked really hard for the competitions, and I’ve enjoyed seeing the growth of the students,” he said. “All three of our teams have qualified for the county meet. Interestingly, two of our teams are going up against each other. If we do well, we could meet up again at the county finals, wouldn’t that be fun.”
Jack McMurtray, Mock Trial vice president and senior, said he is prepared for the upcoming competitions.
“The first few rounds of trials we did were pretty low-stakes, just trying to get placements and get a grasp of what we are doing,” McMurtray said. “But now we’ve got skin in the game which I like, because that pressure is where I operate. But it also can crush you or make you better, life’s like that sometimes. We just have to hope we did enough to prepare for these next few county competitions.”
All three of the Carmel Mock Trial teams: Understudies, Boss Baby, and Final Frontier, will be competing in the county meets and after that is over, the state regionals on Feb. 25.
