Science Olympiad plans election, celebration

After winning Regionals and placing in sixth at the State tournament, Science Olympiad has finished their 2009-2010 season. Although the competition season is over, there is still much left for club members to do.

“Currently there are no meetings, but after break we will be holding elections for officers, cleaning up and organizing club supplies for next year, and celebrating the end of another successful year,” sponsor Fran Rushing said via e-mail.

Dates for the end of the year celebration and officer elections have not been scheduled yet, but they will take place sometime after Spring Break, according to Rushing.

“In the past our meetings were every Wednesday after school in Mrs. Rushing’s room, Room B223,” Hong Yang “Jimmy” Sun, Science Olympiad president and senior, said.

Science Olympiad is a club in which students work as a team and learn about topics dealing with science. It provides hands-on experience with real life problems involving students, teachers and parents, as well as the business community. By Rachel Boyd <[email protected]>
