Kids Against Hunger ready for next year

Kids Against Hunger is a club that helps people in developing countries, and the United States with fighting off hunger and starvation by packaging food and raising money. For the 2010-2011 school year, they plan on doing many packaging events as well as many fundraisers.

According to Maggie Cassidy, theater teacher and sponsor for Kids Against hunger, the club has not been as active during the 2009-2010 school year as they had hoped.

“We really didn’t have that many time for the meetings, and I myself wasn’t really involved, it was completely student ran, which wasn’t a bad thing, but the students didn’t really publicize the events as much as they could have,” Cassidy said.

Cassidy plans to sponsor this club again, but will need many new numbers since the members for the last year were mostly seniors. Emily Lentz, senior and president for Kids Against Hunger said that they plan on having elections within the club for the new club president. She said that the club needed a president who could publicize the events, as well as be able to run the club.

“Whoever it is, they are definitely going to know how to run this club, I think the club is really important, and we should really get more people involved in it,” said Lentz.

The club next year plans on publicizing by doing activities such as video announcements and also fundraisers. Once they have enough members, they will be able to do activities like food packaging for the Red Cross or fundraisers at the school.

“We do plan on doing more, and I know people will definitely consider joining because it’s a really great cause, and it’s a really great club,” said Lentz. By Hannah Khan <[email protected]>
