CHTV shortens Gold Day announcements

Due to complaints about the length of video announcements, CHTV has made new policies for their in-studio announcements.

“The administration said we needed to cut back on the time because we’d have announcements running for a half-hour in SRT, and it would conflict with the first session passes for kids who needed to do that,”  said Marianna Cooper, CHTV management staff member and senior.

CHTV adviser Hal Espey said if students want to make an announcement, they have two ways to share their message. They can pre-record a maximum 30-second video and give it to CHTV to air on the morning announcements, or have their club sponsor e-mail the announcement in to have it read on air.

“In the past, students could make an appearance if they got e-mails [to us] from their sponsors. Now, they either have to pre-record an announcement or they have to send it to the front office, basically by 8:30 a.m., from their sponsor in order for us to read it,” Espey said.

“We’re just going to work on getting everyone adjusted to it, and I’m pretty sure it will end up fine. I’m sure everyone will take it

more seriously and find it enjoyable,” Cooper said. “We’ve given people a lot of options, and obviously it’s a little weird, and everyone looked forwards to funny announcements, but overall we’re getting rid of a lot of the redundancy and lengthiness that made people turn away and not watch, so I think it’s going to be for the better.” By Sarah Matthews
