Counseling Center announces new classes for next year

Next year six new classes will be added to the course selections for next school year. The primary focus of the new courses is focused on further developing the IB program and adding new electives. The new classes for in the pre-IB program include the creation of an honors freshmen block class combining honors English and pre-IB World History. A pre-IB Honors Biology class will also be added as well as AP Latin Virgil. Director of counseling Linda Skafish said the administration is trying to prepare students better for the IB program.

“Up until now we have not really provided any IB preparation,” Skafish said. “Through this program we hope that we are able to attract more students to the program.”

In addition to the pre-IB classes new electives will also be added including sports medicine and training, student math tutors during the school day and the replacement of recreational games with lifetime fitness.

Senior Colleen Murphy who is in recreational games this year said she is sad to see it go. “I have really enjoyed rec. games,” Murphy said. “But I guess lifetime fitness is not that bad.” By Ellie Seta <[email protected]>
