On Jan. 8, the speech team will host a workshop from 9 a.m. to noon at CHS. Students attending the workshop will be able to view winning selections from past competitions, ask questions about speech team and learn about what the team does.

Speech team sponsor John Love said, “This will be a great opportunity for new students to join us who haven’t had a chance to do so and just have fun.”

Speech team will participate in two meets during the month of January. These meets include one for Hamilton county and New Castle. The deadline to register for the New Castle meet is Jan. 6 and there are only forty spots available. The deadline for Hamilton County is Jan. 13 and there are an unlimited amount of spots open for the meet.

Sarah Swiezy, speech team member and junior, said that she is looking forward to compete in the upcoming meets.

“I am really excited to participate in some more competitions after break,” Sarah said. “I am especially looking forward to the New Castle meet because we have won it two years running.” By Aaron Kearney
