Fantasy Sports Club presidents plan to have a live draft for the NFL sometime in the next two weeks. At a live draft, the members will select players in a predetermined order, and then go over the rules and requirements of the club.
Karl Schneider and Matthew Morrison, co-presidents and seniors, run the Fantasy Sports Club. Most of the club’s activity is done in online competitions to see who can build the best team, but meetings are in room E203.
Usually only the club members participate in the fantasy sports leagues, but occasionally club sponsor Mike Meyer will join in.
“I always beat them, so I try to stay out,” said Meyer, who has sponsored the club for the past seven years.
The club tries to participate in fantasy sports for the NFL, the NBA and major league baseball. They always do the NCAA tournament and allow everyone in the whole school to play if they would like to. The club favorite is generally the NFL season.
“[With] Football, you actually have time to look at the line-ups, and football is king of American sports, so everyone is competitive,” said Meyer. According to him, “(Fantasy Sports Club)’s a great club. It doesn’t take a lot of your time. If you love sports, you’ll love fantasy sports. It is all encompassing.”
