On September 15 at 11:30 a.m., family consumer science teacher Jill Birk’s interior design class will be presenting their floor plans for the redesign of the CHTV studio set.
“Five groups each did their own design and worked with the different areas,” Birk said. According to Birk, each group was given about a month and a hypothetical budget of $4000 to work on the new studio.
“It takes a lot of work to find the write furniture and make sure it works,” interior design student and junior Lindsie Newton said. “We want (our floor plan) to be functional and last a long time.” Newton said a lot of her group’s inspiration comes from professional ideas because part of the project involved researching design of similar TV
According to Birk, ideas will be taken from various groups’ proposals, with CHTV sponsor Erin Thorpe and media specialist Bonnie Grimble giving feedback and choosing aspects of plans within the budget and needs. General administration and the students’ parents will both attend the presentation.
“It’s a very unique opportunity we’ve all gotten to be a part of,” Birk said.
