The Senior Roundtable is scheduled to hold its final meeting with student athletic leaders from winter sports on Oct. 13, according to Jim Inskeep, club sponsor and Athletics Director. After this meeting, athletes from spring sports will begin to meet in order to prepare for their athletic season. The first meeting with spring student athletes is scheduled for November, Inskeep said.

At this meeting, student athletes will wrap up the Senior Roundtable curriculum of leadership roles, according to Inskeep.

“We have one meeting left, where (winter student athletes) will do sort of their own investigations on what type of leaders want to be or if they want to lead differently,” Inskeep said. “It will be kind of a self-evaluation.”

Roman “Roma” Sarapin, swim team member and senior, said he learned many important points about the kind of leader he wishes to be on the swim team.

“I understand that people look up to seniors and that I should lead by example,” Sarapin said. “Working with other peers in other sports gave me a wonderful insight of how I could be better leader. It also gave me ideas about how I could go about making my team more of a family.”

Inskeep said he has a lot of confidence in the leadership qualities of the winter student athletes leaving the Senior Roundtable.

“(Overall), I’ve noticed their quiet confidence and observed their different styles of leadership,” Inskeep said. “The best way to put it is that, at the core, they’re good people. And having that core will make each of them a good leader.”
