According to Mike Meyer, GKOM sponsor and special services teacher, the next GKOM meetup will take place on Oct. 12 in the designated freshmen SRT rooms. The main goal for the GKOMs is to connect with their assigned freshmen.

“We want them interacting and building positive relationships that will carry on when their freshmen are seniors and juniors,” Meyer said.

Junior and GKOM Kyra Stickford said she agrees with Meyer. “It’s really important to make a connection with our freshmen. We want to help make their freshman year run more smoothly, and sometimes the best thing we can do is to just be a friend for them,” said Stickford.

According to Meyer, this meeting will be important to continue the foundations being built by the mentors and freshmen students.

“They need to continue to work on the connections. The students that are involved are the best that Carmel High School has to offer, so we want them to be a positive influence and continue the unbelievable culture that we have at CHS,” said Meyer.
