Carmel Dads’ Club opens basketball registration

Registration for Carmel Dads’ Club (CDC) basketball is now open. Interested students can either register on the CDC website or fill out a form at the main CDC office. This program is open to students from pre-kindergarten to high school, allowing students of all age levels to participate in youth sports.

CDC president Jack Beery encourages students to get involved with the sports offered by CDC.

“We want kids to have the full youth sport experience,” Beery said. “It’s to build self-esteem, physical fitness and respect through a diverse level of sports.”

According to Beery, CDC gives young athletes a chance to learn essential life lessons that they can use in the future. “Many life lessons come from being a part of a youth sports program,” Beery said.

Sophomore Sharmistha Chakrabarti has been involved with CDC soccer since she was 4 years old and sees CDC as an ideal alternative or addition to sports offered at CHS.

“It’s a recreational league,” Chakrabarti said. “It’s not super serious like some high school sports, but it’s fun.”

Beery also sees CDC as an opportunity for students who cannot be involved with sports at CHS to stay active.

“This is an alternative for students, if they can’t play on high school teams,” Beery said. “They still get an opportunity to play at a high level.”
