Violist of the Symphony Orchestra and sophomore Oliver Shou said that the orchestra’s first concert was an overall success.

“I thought it went pretty good; there were some problems the class before (when we were practicing) but we figured it out,” Shou said. He said that the some of the orchestra members were rushing during the class before, but the problem was mainly fixed by the concert so the pieces were played at a more appropriate tempo.

He said that, of all the pieces he played, his favorite one was Brahm’s Symphony No. 4.

Soo Han, performing arts co-department chairperson and director for orchestras, said that, “(Brahm’s Symphony No. 4) is a very difficult repertoire in symphonic literature.” Regardless of the difficulty level of the piece, Shou said he thought it went well.

Orchestra’s next concert is the winter concert, which takes place on Dec. 13. It will start at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
