After a win against Hamilton Southeastern in the opening round of the Sectional, Big Game looks to continue to attend football games, according to student co-leader Alex Shaffer. Shaffer said the most exciting part about the football playoffs is the one-and-done mentality.
“I think the most exciting part is that it could be the last game of the season. For me, it could be the last football game I ever watch as a Carmel student,” Shaffer said.
Big Game sponsor Brad Pearson said he shares a nearly identical view to Shaffer.
“My favorite thing about the Sectional period is that it’s one and done. If you lose, the season is over. I just love seeing our athletes give it their all to move on until they are the last ones standing,” Pearson said via e-mai
However, eventually football season will be over and basketball will become the prominent sport for Big Game. Pearson said he looks forward to another successful year for the basketball team.
“I’m looking forward to this basketball season because it’s a new year. Last year we won State for the second year in a row but that is all in the past now. The basketball team is going to be looking to continue to build off of what they did last year,” Pearson said via e-mail.
Shaffer said he is excited for the opportunity to win yet another State championship.
“What I’m looking forward to the most is the possibility of three straight State championships. That would be pretty cool,” Shaffer said.
