The final major deadline for the Pinnacle is approaching. According to Laura Moore, maternity substitute teacher for Pinnacle adviser Nicole Wilson, many students believe that after the last major deadline, students just sit around and play Ping-Pong all day.
“They wish,” Moore said, laughing. “But no, the students work on a supplement to the yearbook, and also work on collective portfolios of the work students have done, so there is no Ping-Pong, sorry to report.”
Web editor and senior Emily Brungard said although as a web editor she is not affected as much as the others on the Pinnacle staff, she still has plenty of work to do. “The website stories run until the end of the fourth (quarter),” Brungard said. “So my work is not over yet, not by a long shot.”
Also, according to Moore, journalism students will not attend the spring JEA/NSPA Spring National High School Journalism Convention in San Diego, scheduled for early April. Many factors played into this decision, including the fact that the trip occurs during spring break, and Wilson is out on maternity leave.
Moore said, “I think my students understand the situation, and I believe that (HiLite adviser Jim Streisel’s) students understand it too.”
