The men’s tennis team defeated Westfield in the Sectional semifinals this past Tuesday 5-0. Head Coach Mike Bostic said the team played really well.
“This was the first IHSAA tournament match for 6 out of the 7 starters. They looked comfortable and confident,” Bostic said via email. The team will face Guerin Catholic High School Friday Oct. 4 at the Todd Witsken Tennis Center.
Azad Koya, tennis player and sophomore, said the team played pretty good against Westfield. “Everything went smoothly and overall we sweeped them so it was pretty easy,” Koya said
As the team prepares for Guerin Catholic on Friday Koya said the team will prepare for this match just like any other match. “We’ve practiced a lot already and we know how they play,” Koya said.
Both Koya and Bostic said they both have a lot of confidence in the team going forward. “They (the team) have played their best tennis in the biggest moments during the regular season,” Bostic said. Koya said, “We’ve had a lot of experience against them (Guerin) and we should be able to beat them.”
