Key Club to elect new board members at Oct. 29 meeting

Elections for the positions of freshman and junior board member will take place at the next Key Club meeting on Oct. 29. Club members can earn group hours by buying a box of lollipops by Oct. 21 or going trick-or-treating for donations on Halloween.

Co-sponsor Katie Gray said the decision to elect a new junior board member as well as a freshman board member came as a result of the resignation of senior Michelle Hu from the office of club president, who stepped down because of conflicts with her schedule. Junior Morgan Perry, previously the vice president, took Hu’s place, she said, and junior Radhika Agarwal, previously the junior board member, has now become the vice president.

According to Gray, Key Club members can sell lollipops for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, an organization which funds blood cancer research and patient care. They will earn two group hours if they purchase a box of lollipops for $10 by Oct. 21, she said, and the money they make from the sale will reimburse them for their purchase.

According to Gray, club members can also earn group hours by trick-or-treating on Halloween, collecting spare change from houses instead of candy and filling a donations box. The money will be sent to the United Nations Children’s Fund to aid impoverished children worldwide. By Thalib Razi <[email protected]>
