Ambassadors prepare for Holiday Spectacular

With the Fall Concert under their belt, the Ambassadors are moving rapidly ahead in their preparations for Holiday Spectacular. The concert will open on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. with additional shows on Dec. 3 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 5 and 6 at 2 p.m.

“We are just swamped at this time of the year. I mean, we really only have about seven weeks between the Fall Concert and Holiday Spectacular and they have got to have everything learned and polished by (Nov. 17)” Kuskye said. “I’m really considering adding extra rehearsals; they’ve just began learning the material.”

According to Rebecca ‘Becca’ Petersen, member of the Ambassadors and senior, the group will be singing three numbers including “Sliver Bells” and “North Pole Rock ‘n Roll.”

“There is one song that we will sing with (Blue and Gold Company) and the Accents,” Petersen said. “And we are doing
“Sliver Bells” in these really cool Dickens-era costumes.”

Petersen also said that they are doing things a little bit differently this year. Instead of having all choirs sing together on stage in the second act, they will be singing in individual groups.

“The rest of it stays the same,” Petersen said. “The first act is all about fun and dancing and the second one is more classical with pretty much ballads and no dancing.”

In order to prepare for their shows, the Ambassadors are rehearsing Mondays and Wednesdays outside of class. Most of their focus is on numbers for Holiday Spectacular and they have been working with choreographers to iron out their dance numbers.

“About a week before the show opens, we will have rehearsals every day from 6 to 10 p.m.,” Petersen said. “But overall, rehearsals are going really well. It’s coming along.” By Min Qiao <[email protected]>
