Student Tutor Connections (STC), a club at this school where students tutor other students in any subject during SRT, has made a few minor changes in the past couple weeks to try to increase turnouts at its meetings. One change is that the tutors in the club are now bringing in snacks for both the tutors and students to enjoy.
“We started bringing in food now just to make things a little more fun,” Pedram Navid, co-president and senior, said. “The snacks are enjoyed while the tutors and students work on whatever assignments are brought in.”
According to Navid, STC has also started making more announcements on the video announcements. “We are trying to do at least one announcement per week now,” Navid said. “We have seen a few more kids turning out since we started getting on the announcements (more often).”
In an effort to raise even more awareness about the club, co-president and senior Rishi Sethia said he has started a Facebook group. “We are hoping to get a little more recognition that way too,” Sethia said.
The club still meets during the first SRT of each week for both sessions. Any teacher may write a pass for a student to attend. The club meets in Room A210 and students may leave as soon as they have finished being tutored. By Andrew Rhoad <[email protected]>
