As the season changes and winter sports change to spring sports, CHTV will be covering fewer sports. According to CHTV advisor Hal Espey, the reasoning for this is that, often times, spring sports are harder than other sports for a high school TV crew to cover.
“Let’s take golf, for example,” he said. “When you watch golf on TV you don’t really think about all the work that goes into filming it. There’re cameras at every hole and aerial views and the perspective would have to be constantly changing. That would be pretty hard for us to mimic. Golf, along with most other spring sports, just doesn’t translate well to television.”
Senior Mark Hodges, who is part of the CHTV crew, said that the staff still keeps busy even without as many sporting events.
“Spring can be a big time for school events, like plays and school activities. Less sporting coverage can give us more time to cover some more of all the activities at Carmel,” he said. By Kendall Harshberger <[email protected]>
