Key Club plans spring activities

Kiwanis Club has organized a pancake breakfast at the Carmel Fire Department in Civic Square on March 27 as well as a spring clean-up at Enlow Park on April 10. Key Club members can volunteer at these events for group hours.

According to sponsor Katie Gray, at the pancake breakfast club members will help set up the breakfast, serve the pancakes and clean up afterwards. Gray said the breakfast is an annual event designed to bring people together to have fun and socialize but also to raise funds for the many community service events Kiwanis organizes.

In addition to the pancake breakfast, Key Club members can volunteer to help Kiwanis clean up Enlow Park over Spring Break.

“(The volunteers) will be clearing away dead leaves and branches left by winter, and they’ll do some painting too, basically getting the park ready for the spring and summer seasons,” Gray said. “Kiwanis Club will provide pizza for the volunteers after they finish.”

Radhika Agarwal, club vice president and junior, said Key Club is actually a branch of Kiwanis International, a community service and social organization. Agarwal said that, in a sense, volunteering for Kiwanis is like volunteering for Key Club.

In addition, Agarwal said club members who have fallen behind should take every opportunity they have left to participate in Key Club events and collections, and to remember to drop off their recorded hours at the Key Club office within the month in which they completed the hours.

“Just stay on top of things,” Agarwal said. “And if you have any suggestions for us board members, any activities you’d like to see Key Club do, talk to the board members. It’s your club as much as it’s ours.” By Thalib Razi <[email protected]>
