For Halloween this year, Carmel Key Club hosted a meeting where everyone made ornamental paper pumpkins for donation to various charities. Carmel Key Club will be meeting every late start Wednesday in the Freshman Cafeteria.
David Jiang, Carmel Key Club president and senior, said the club hosts activities like these to promote holiday spirit and give back to the community.
“For some meetings, we’ll have people make some sort of craft project we can give out to people who need cheering up. Our Halloween meeting included everyone getting together and making little craft pumpkins to celebrate the holiday,” Jiang said. “People usually have a lot of fun with craft projects like these and they help us cheer up the less fortunate in our community. We do activities like these pretty often to make sure people who are in unfortunate situations are still given care during the holiday season.”
Key Club co-sponsor Allyson Ward said making crafts helped new members get acquainted with Carmel Key Club.
“In the beginning of the year, lots of students join (Carmel Key Club) but they don’t know what it’s all about,” Ward said. “So crafting activities for charities can reignite a sense of purpose in these students and make them feel more connected to the club.”
